Winifred Wyanda Cook
KEYSER, W.Va. – Winifred Wyanda Cook. 91, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Apt. 402, Keyser, died Saturday December 8, 2007, at the home of her daughter Brenda Swim of Keyser.
Born on October 13, 1916 at Parkersburg, WV (Wood Co.), she was a daughter of the late William T. “Mack” and Lucy Mae (Trenton) Mathena. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Cook on January 12, 1990; one sister, Lorraine Harman and 3 brothers, Ted, Roy Lee and Richard Mathena
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and former employee of Hackley’s Store and the G. C. Murphy Co. in Piedmont, WV. She was a 1935 graduate of Keyser High School and a member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda K. Hine and husband Charles of Ranson, WV and Brenda Swim and husband Benny of Keyser; a brother, Rex Mathena and wife Eloise of Keyser; grandsons, David Swim of Alexandria, VA, Kevin Hine and wife Michelle and Darren Hine and wife Tiffany of Charles Town; granddaughters, Valerie Frye of Front Royal, VA and April Speakman and husband Joe of Martinsburg; great-grandsons, Andrew Leslie, Alexander and Christopher Hine of Charles Town and Tyler Frye of Front Royal; great-granddaughters, Jennifer Frye of Front Royal, Madison Hine of Charles Town and Kaitlyn Speakman of Martinsburg. She is also survived by special niece Sue Armstrong and husband Biff of Kingwood and nephew Johnny Harman and wife Janie of Keyser.
Friends may call at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Paul A. Smith, pastor of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Headsville Cemetery, Headsville, WV.
