William Louis “Bill” Ambrose
McCoole, MD – William Louis “Bill” Ambrose, 84, of McCoole, died on Monday, November 29, 2021 at his residence.
Born on January 2, 1937 in McCoole, MD he was the son of the late Raymond Homer and Cressie Juanita Ambrose. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dorothy “Dot” Ambrose on May 18, 2004; his sister, Catherine Mae Coleman and his brothers, Raymond Howard Ambrose and Chester Lloyd Ambrose and his former son in law, Herbert Melvin Carnell, III.
Bill graduated from Bruce High School, Class of 1955 and was a retired Owner/Contractor of the former Ambrose Enterprises, licensed in Swimming Pools for 56 years. He called himself the “pool doctor.” He formerly worked at ABL as a Machinist Apprentice and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and was a trustee. He was also a lifetime member of the McCoole VFD, which was originally founded by his father, Homer Ambrose, and former President for both the Mill Creek Country Club and County United Way for McCoole. He had a special talent for making beautiful things in his woodworking shop.
Surviving are his daughter, Debra “Debbie” L. Ambrose and husband Frank Nuice of Knoxville, MD; his grandchildren, Brenton A. Carnell and Matthew A. Carnell and his special friend, Susie Homan. He is also survived by his great-grandpuppies Quincy, Scout, and Theo. He will be forever known for his sense of humor, kindness to all who knew him, and his appetite for blueberries and all things sweet. His “adopted” surviving family members are Susie Kranik Clark, Mike Kranik, and “Tillie” Martin.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM . Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM. with the Pastor Vickie Minnich, Pastor Beth Jacobson and Pastor Jerry Eisenhour officiating. Interment will be held in Homan Family Cemetery, Antioch, WV.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of Bill to the First United Methodist Church, 32 North Davis Street, Keyser, WV 26726, or to the Tri-Towns Ambulance, 59 Main Street, Westernport, MD 21562.
