William Morgan “Bill” Bane
Keyser, WV - William Morgan “Bill” Bane, 89, of Keyser, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at his residence.
Born on August 3, 1934 in Keyser, he was the only son of the late Ervin Morgan and Louise (Broome) Bane.
Bill graduated from Keyser High School in the Class of 1952. He continued his education at Potomac State College until 1954, when he went on to earn his Bachelor of Agriculture at West Virginia University in 1956. Bill was a farmer and self-employed contractor, working with both C&P Telephone and Bell Atlantic throughout his career. He also served in the United States Army Reserve as a Captain Infantry.
Bill was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Harry Reese Sunday School Class. He was a member and former President of the Keyser Lions Club, a member of the Mineral County Farm Bureau, served on the Board of Directors for both F & M Bank and BB & T, was a charter member of the New Creek Water Association, Keyser JC, and the Keyser Housing Authority Board.
Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Lou (Avey) Bane; sons Joe Bane and wife Peggy, Michael Bane and wife Linda; Patrick Bane and wife Cindy; grandchildren Jesse Bane and wife Lindsey, Joshua Bane, Matthew Bane, Naomi Bane, BillieJo Bane, and his great-grandson Jennings Bane.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Bill’s caregivers Bonnie, Shelley, Candy, Gwen, Jennifer, and Debbie for the outstanding care and compassion they provided.

Friends will be received on Wednesday May 1, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Grace United Methodist Church at 11:00am with Pastor Chan Hubbard officiating. Interment will be following the services in Queens Point Cemetery.
