Wendy Ann Shoemaker
KEYSER, WV - Wendy Ann Shoemaker, 54, of Keyser, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on April 3, 1969, in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of George “Cork” Shoemaker and Mary Ann (Hanly) Shoemaker. She is preceded in death by her mother who passed earlier Thursday morning.
Wendy graduated from Valley High School and earned her BA Degree from Frostburg State University and her MS Degree from West Virginia University. She was employed as a Special Education Teacher for Garrett County Board of Education at Southern Garrett High School in Oakland, MD. For several years she was the Advisor for Best Buddies International and a member of the GCEA for 17 years and treasurer for 4 years.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memories in addition to her father, Cork are her brother, Scott Shoemaker and wife Julie; nephews, Tanner Shoemaker and partner Allison and Jake Shoemaker; great-nephew, Parker; great-niece, Cameron; her fiancé, Scott Whetzel; step daughter, Tessa Booth and husband Josh and her step-grandchildren, Marie, Jaden, Skyler and Tristan. She is also survived by her cousins, Chris Shoemaker and wife Tammy and their daughter, Alexa and Corey Shoemaker and wife Mandy and their sons, Ryan and Josh; and numerous friends.

Shared visitation for Wendy and her mother, Mary Ann will be held at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. A combined funeral service will be held at the Calvary United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 1:00pm with Pastor Beth Jacobson and Reverend Gary Wolfe officiating. Visitation held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow the funeral services in Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser.
