Wade Andrew “Buster” Roy

     KEYSER, WV – Wade Andrew “Buster” Roy, 73, of Keyser, died on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

     Born on July 26, 1949 in Headsville, he was a son of the late Homer William Roy and Mabel Helen (McNeill) Roy. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis Roy, Bill Roy and Fred Roy; infant sisters, Alma Grace and Mary Angela Roy and sister, Barbara Smith.

     Buster graduated from Keyser High School and retired from the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant and served during the Vietnam War. He also retired from the Department of West Virginia Highway. He was a faithful member of the Cross Independent Church, American Legion Boyce-Houser Post 41 and a lifetime member of the Queens Point 6775 VFW in McCoole, D.A.V. Chapter #9 in Keyser and an avid Scouter and longtime leader of Troop 35. He enjoyed camping at Hidden Spring Camp Ground and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

     Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Anna Jean (Mason) Roy, his three children, Angela Dehayes and husband William  and Lindy Patton and husband Frederick, all of Keyser and Chris Roy and wife Jessie of Rawlings, MD; his brother, Tom Roy and his three sisters, Margaret “P-Nut” Roy of Keyser, Judi Roy of Yukon, OK and Robyn (Roy) Llewellyn of Keyser. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

   Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00am with the Reverend Kenneth Mason officiating. Interment will follow services in the Philos Cemetery in Westernport, MD with full Military Honors accorded by the United States National Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #13 Honor Guard.
