Virgil Lowell Kuhl, 87, of Keyser, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. Born on March 12, 1939 Lost Creek, West Virginia. He is the son of the late, Virgil Art Kuhl and Erma Lucille James. He lived a life deeply rooted in service to his community and country.
He attended Grafton High School, graduated from Keyser High School and attended Barber College. Lowell proudly served in the United States Army, Military Police achieving the rank of Private First Class serving in Germany. His time in the military exemplified his dedication and commitment to serving others. After completing his service, he returned home to West Virginia and became a beloved figure in his town as the local barber 1959 until December 2025, when he served his last customer. Lowell's barbershop was not only a place for haircuts but also a gathering spot where stories were shared and friendships were formed. Lowell loved to travel, singing and nature and gardening. He was a member of Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, former member of the Ruritan Club and a member of the Keyser American Legion.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Kuhl, his son; Victor Kuhl of Keyser, his daughter; Sherry K. Kuhl of Bruceton mills, WV, and a sister; Caroline Kuhl Grimm (90) of Bellevue, Washington.
Virgil’s legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and connection with those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
A Visitation will be held on March 20, 2026, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM and 6:00 PM o 8:00 PM at Markwood Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held on March 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Markwood Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Epling officiating. Interment will follow at the Potomac Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the US Army National Honor guard, and the Boyce American Legion.
