Vernon Lough Cosner
Alpine Lake, WV – Vernon Lough Cosner, 85, of Alpine Lake, was called by our Savior to come home on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Garrett Hospital.
Born on September 17, 1939 in Petersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Rev Harry H. Cosner and Myrtle (Moreland) Cosner. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Ernest Cosner and Wesley Cosner and two sisters, Goldie Kitzmiller and Helen Idleman.
Lough graduated from Petersburg High School, Class of 1958. He was a United States Air Force Veteran during the Vietnam conflict and served on a SAC AFB in computers. He retired from Mineral County Health Department after 27 years of service and formerly employed by C& P telephone. He also was a skilled carpenter.
He was a faithful member of the Fountain United Brethren Church and a charter member of the Fountain Fire Department. He was a member of Fountain Ruritan, the Alpine Lake Golf Club and enjoyed trap shooting. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn (Cook) Cosner; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Cosner and Betty Kennedy; nephews, Mike and Jeff Cosner; nieces, Annette Peer and Bridgette Parker and great nephews, Kyle and Wesley Cosner. He is also survived by his great-great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Lough Cosner to the Fountain United Brethren Church in Christ, 11585 Knobley Road, Keyser, WV 26726.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Markwood Funeral Home from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Funeral services immediately following the visitation at 1:00pm with Reverend Kyle Cosner officiating. Interment will be held in Locust Grove Cemetery, Bismarck, WV.
