Thomas William “Bill” Sirk, Sr.
KEYSER, WV - Thomas William “Bill” Sirk, Sr., 90, of Keyser, died on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his residence.
Born on April 24, 1930 in Romney, WV, his was the son of the late Giser and Leona (Dent) Sirk.
Bill graduated from Romney High School, earned a degree in Math and Science from West Virginia University and attended Marshall College. He was a United States Navy Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. A retired Math Teacher from Piedmont High School in West Virginia and had taught at Herndon High School in Virginia.
During High School he played Football, Basketball and Baseball and was the All Star quarterback in 1949 and continued to play Basketball and Baseball throughout College. A member of the Church of Christ, Keyser, where he had a faithful weekly attendance and a member of the WVU Alumni Association and the Queens Point Memorial Post #6775 VFW in McCoole, MD. He enjoyed the outdoors and after his retirement was the caregiver for West End Play Ground.
Surviving are his wife Maxine (Cosner) Sirk; his sons, Thomas W. Sirk, Jr. and wife Peggy and Timothy M. Sirk and wife Emmy both of Keyser; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Sirk, Molly Ary, Timothy Mark Sirk, II and Erica Sirk; 4 great-grandchildren, Will Ary, Peyton Ary, Nehemiah Sirk and Ryleigh Sirk and his sister, Carolyn Hartman.
Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of William Sirk, Sr. to the Church of Christ, 2627 New Creek Hwy, Keyser, WV 26726.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Potomac Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel at 1:00pm with Glen Gilbert officiating.
Arrangements have been entrust to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
