Thomas Lee Sawyers

      KEYSER, WV – Thomas Lee Sawyers, 80, of Keyser, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

    Born on July 2, 1942 in Cumberland, MD, he was a son of the late Reverend Sumner Sawyers and Mildred G. (White) Sawyers. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Sue (Davis) Sawyers on May 9, 2005.

    Thomas retired from Westvaco and was a United Methodist by faith. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family especially telling stories to his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

    Surviving are his children, Thomas L. Sawyers and wife Michelle, Michael Dean Sawyers and wife Kelley, Bethany Ann Sawyers and companion James Weasenforth; his step-children, Harry W. Wilhelm and Tracy L. Wilhelm; grandchildren, Jennifer Sawyer, Charity Flaskamp, Jonathan Hedrick, Tessa Sawyers, David Grady, Lacey Sawyers, Michael Sawyers, Sofia Weasenforth, Joey Weasenforth, Charlee Weasenforth, and Austin Wilhelm and his brother, Edwin S. Sawyers and wife Nancy. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     In respecting Mr. Sawyer’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or services. A private inurnment will be held in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, MD.

     Arrangements have been entrusted in the Markwood Funeral Home, Inc.
