Theresa Ann Dennis, 74, went to be with her lord and savior on Friday, October 24, 2025 at her residence.
Born on March 16, 1951 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late John H. and Estelle L. (Shea) Clem.
Theresa’s compassion reached far beyond the love for her family. She retired from the Potomac Center, Romney, WV as Purchasing Technician and among other countless roles. She was a strong voice for children with development disabilities. Through Hampshire County Special Olympics and Kids on the Block, she educated and inspired countless young hearts, using puppets, patience, and her beautiful belief that every child deserved to be seen and loved.
She was a woman of simple joys – from crocheting blankets, slippers and stockings that warmed bodies and souls to sewing with care, baking with love and filling her home with the smell of something sweet and the sound of laughter. Her faithful companion, Freeway, was always by her side, reminding everyone that her love for animals was just another reflection of her boundless heart.
Theresa was tough, honest and full of grit – “Rough around the edges but solid gold on the inside.” She faced life head-on, always ready with a helping hand, sharp wit and a heart that never ran out of room. She knew Jesus, spoke with him daily and lived her faith in quiet steadfast ways that touched every life around her.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Nelson Evans Dennis; her loving children, Christina Brautigan (Bobby), Katherine Crosten (Howard), Larry Peters (Kim) and Michelle Marker (Brad); her precious grandchildren, Darren Crosten (Sara), Charles Main (Kali). Victoria Murray (Danny), Adam Crosten (Emily), Courtney Conley (Brayden), Chase Westfall, Caitlyn Marker, Mikaela Koons, Cullen Koons, Whitney Burns (Josh), Wyatt Marker (Autumn), and Dylan Marker; and her darling great-grandchildren, Natalie Crosten, Wesley Main, Mason Main, Asher Conley, Rowan Koons, Kaysen Conley and soon to be Deliah Jane Conley. She is also survived by her siblings, John Clem, Jackie Collier, James Clem, and Charlotte Boswell (Jack).
Services to celebrate her life will be held at Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with visitation from 3-6 pm and service following at 6 pm.
Theresa’s hands, may rest now, but her warmth, wisdom, and love will live on – in every laugh she inspired, every heart she healed and every memory she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to offset funeral expenses.
