Steven C. Raines

     KEYSER, WV – Steven C. Raines, 61, of Keyser, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. 
     Born on April 1, 1962 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Norman Claude and Eva Duree (Wilkes) Raines. 
     Steven graduated Keyser High School, Class of 1980 where he played football. He was formerly employed as a production operator for the Glass Plant and former employee of 84 Lumber in Keyser. He also was a member of the Upper Potomac Shrine Club. 
     A beloved family man, devoted mountaineer fan, and avid hunter. He was a pillar in his family, always putting their needs and happiness above his own. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  
     Left to cherish in Steven’s memory are his loving wife Karen (Gardner) Raines; daughters, Samantha Draper Whetzel and husband Brian and Brooke Raines Kimble and husband Justin; his grandchildren, Emma Robinson, Garrett Kimble, Raegan Kimble, Chael Kimble and Jensen Kimble and special fur baby, Taffy.
     Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Steven Raines to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38108 or the Mineral County Humane Society, c/o Joy Fertig, HC 84, Box 12, Keyser, WV 26726.
     Friends will be received on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the funeral home at 11:00am with Reverend Lucas Taylor officiating. Interment will follow the Funeral services in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
