     NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Sarah Jane Fout, 90, of New Creek died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at her residence.

     Born June 29, 1918 in Keyser, she was a daughter of the late George T. and Ethel P. (Steedman) Ashby.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Lawrence O. Fout on December 26, 2005, and two sisters, Virginia Lee Ashby and Mauda M. Grimes.

     Mrs. Fout was a retired Postmaster from New Creek Post Office, a former employee of G.C. Murphy Co., WV State Roads and U.S. Government Price Control in Keyser during WWII.  After graduation in 1936 from Keyser High School, she received business training courses. She was a member of Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek, United Methodist Women, 4H member and Leader and Homemakers Club.

     Surviving are her son L.A. Fout and wife Rebecca; her daughter Jane Louise Fout both of New Creek; her grandchildren Jesse Lawrence Fout and wife Robin of Morgantown and Lindsey Ellen Ashby Fout of Tahoe Vista, CA; her brother Thomas F. Ashby of Charles Town, W.Va. and her sister Edna Louise Crumbaugh and husband Robert E. of Carroll County, MD. She is also survived by  her sisters-in-law: Bernice Kalbaugh of Elk Garden, Wilma Fout of New Creek and her brothers-in-law: Alton W. Grimes of Norfolk, Va, Eston Fout and Dale Fout both of New Creek and many beloved nieces and nephews.

     Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday, July 11, 2008 from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Services will be conducted at Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 with the Reverend Daniel C. Stemple officiating.  Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Duling Cemetery, New Creek.
