Sandra Kay Schadler

     KEYSER, WV – Sandra Kay Schadler, 76, of Keyser, died on Friday, September 22, 2023 at UPMC in Cumberland, MD.

     Born on March 23, 1947 in Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of the late Loy Wilbur Hartman and Florence Virginia (Lechliter) Hartman.

     Mrs. Schadler graduated from Ft. Ashby High School, Class of 1965 and attended Potomac State College. She earned her degree at Sacred Heart School of Nurse and extended her learning at the Catherman’s Business School. For over 20 years she was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Heartland of Keyser and for 5 years worked as a Teacher’s Aide and Nurse for Keyser Primary School.

     Sandra was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir and Women of Faith. A former member of Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, Woodmen of the World, Apple Alley Players and 4-H All Stars. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by all.

     Left to cherish Sandra’s memory are her beloved husband of 51 years, Robert Arthur Schadler; her children, Geoffrey A. Schadler and Michelle D. Schadler both of Keyser; granddaughter, Taya A Schadler of Plymouth, MN; her sister, Diana Rae Chaney and husband Donald of Springfield, WV; her brother-in-law, Fred Schadler and wife Linda of Greenville, NC; and her sister-in-law, Sharla Laffey and husband Mike of Staunton, VA. She is also survived by her nephews, Sean and Lucien Bennett; niece, Tracey Cass; 3 great-nephews, 2 great-niece and her 5 fur babies. 

       In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in honor of Sandra Schadler to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 232, Keyser, WV 26726.

     Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-9:00pm.  Funeral Services will be conducted at First United Methodist Church, Keyser on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00am with Pastor Beth Jacobson and Pastor Vickie Minnich officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Entombment will be held following the funeral services at the Schadler’s Crypt in Potomac Memorial Gardens.
