Samuel “Sam” Cathell
KEYSER, WV – Samuel W. “Sam” Cathell, 70, of Keyser, passed away 9:22 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born on April 22, 1948 in Petersburg, he was a son of the late Noah Shockey and adopted parents, Margaret (Cox) and Bill Cathell. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie “Oh Shit” Angland.
Sam was a self-employed construction contractor. He was a member of Branch Full Gospel Church, McCoole, MD.
Surviving are his loving wife of 28 years, Bonnie Cathell; his children, David Long and wife Goldie and Alice Miller; a very special nephew, Ed Angland; his grandchildren, David Shane Long, Matthew Long, Brittany Long, Kiersten Miller, Alicia Miller and Victoria “Tater” Miller and his sisters, Doris Hardmen and husband Leo, Daisy Solser and husband Charles, Lola “Bertie” Schramm, Betty Bosley and husband Dave and Rene Rhodes. He is also survived by numerous other nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 11 am to 2 pm. Funeral Services immediately after visitation, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2 pm with the Reverend Jack Lease officiating. Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
