Rose S. Wiles

     New Creek, WV - Rose S. Wiles, 94, of Burgess Hollow Rd., New Creek, WV, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at her home.

     Born on March 27, 1929 at Red Rock, WV, near Rowlesburg, WV, she was daughter of the late Ezra Guy and Goldie Isabelle (Ridenour) Sypolt. She is also preceded in death by an infant brother, Ezra Guy Sypolt, Jr. and several brothers and sisters-in-laws.

     Rose had worked as a clerk for Wilsons Jewelry Store in Rowlesburg​​, WV prior to her marriage. After marriage she took great pride in being a homemaker and was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rose was a member of Laurel Dale CEOS and of the Laurel Dale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with and taking great care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, and crocheting many blankets for family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Paul C. Wiles; her daughter, Paula Courtney and husband Michael; her grandchildren, Aaron and Heather, Colton and Mary Kate and Ellison and Kaitlin; and her great-grandchildren, Hadley, Memphis, Evan, Liem and Isabelle. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Shackelford and husband Chuck; sisters-in-law, Betty Bello and Wanda Jean Wiles and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Friends and family will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5:00 -7:00pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:00pm with Reverend Gwen Wolford officiating. Interment will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00pm in the Red Rock Cemetery, Macomber, WV, with Reverend Sabrina Tenney officiating.
