Rosalee Ann Calemine Freeman
KEYSER, WV - Rosalee Ann Calemine Freeman went to her home with God on December 25, 2023. Rosalee was the daughter of the late Mickey and Colleen Calemine.
Rosalee always cherished her Italian heritage and was in awe of her grandparents who left their home in Italy to give their children a better life. Because of this, her father was able to meet his future wife in North Carolina during World War II.
Rosalee was a proud graduate of the Keyser High School class of 1964. She attended Potomac State College and was a graduate of West Virginia University with a BS in education and a master’s degree in reading. She felt blessed to have taught young people in Garrett and Allegany counties. She retired from Allegany County after 38 years of teaching middle school. As a member of the Church of the Assumption, Rosalee was an active member of the Ladies Guild and served as a Eucharistic minister both during mass and for homebound friends.
Rosalee is survived by her husband, Ronald Freeman of Keyser, WV; her daughter, Melanie Freeman-Gruber (Jeff) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her son, Rick Freeman of Keyser, WV; her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Skylar Freeman, Laura Freeman Legge (Brian), and Cielo Gruber; and her adored great-grandchild, Alaric Legge. Additional survivors include her cousins, Carole Rhodes of Keyser, WV, and Nancy Tyler of Pasadena, MD.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her sister, Anita Grove; her brothers, Stephan and James Calemine; and cousin, Betsy Jackson.
On Thursday, December 28, the rosary will be said by the Assumption Church Ladies Guild at 5:45 p.m. at Markwood Funeral Home. A wake will follow from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Assumption Church on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment of her ashes will occur at St. Thomas Cemetery following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ladies Guild of the Assumption Parish to assist with their mission. Please mail them to Assumption Ladies Guild, 34 James St., Keyser WV 26726.
