Robert Lee “Jack” Suter, Jr. 

     KEYSER, WV - Robert Lee “Jack” Suter, Jr., 84, of Keyser, died on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at his residence.

     Born on May 12, 1938 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Robert L. “Monk Suter, Sr. and Dorothy (Walters) Suter. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Eileen (Delaney) Suter and a stepfather, Harvey DeVore, Sr.; two brothers, Harvey DeVore, Jr. and Paul Suter; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Davies as well as his grandson, Robert Lee Suter, IV. 

     Jack graduated from Keyser High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for many different power plants, was formerly employed by North Branch Power Station, Westvaco, and Kelly Springfield Tire Company.  After retirement, he worked with the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department for over 16 years. Methodist by faith, he attended several area churches. He attended bible study at The Church of God, Piedmont, WV. He was the founding charter President of the North Branch Lions Club and helped many people in the community. He enjoyed making memories with his great-grandchildren and grandchildren, fishing, political conversations, building houses early in life, and just sitting at home with his loving wife.  Jack “Soft Shoes” was a huge Elvis fan and well known for his dancing and love of music.  

     Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years Ruby (Lewis) Suter; three children, Rhonda Sears-Coffman and fiancé Tom, Rhenda (Suter) Cook, Robert Lee Suter, III and partner Krista; his brothers, James Suter, David Suter, John Suter, John DeVore and Richard DeVore and his sisters, Regina Hahn, Sonja Morrissey, Nancy Hatfield and Eva Tregembo. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Willy, Kayla, Jillian (whom he help to raise and was like a daughter), Brandon, Justin, Sara, and Jessica, six great-grandchildren  and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved and adored all his family and friends.

     In lieu of flowers, please feel free to send memorial contributions to St. Jude’s charity, the North Branch Lions Club, the Church of God in Piedmont, or any charity of your choice.  
     Friends will be received Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Markwood Funeral Home from Noon – 4:00pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 4:00pm with Pastor Ed Clemons, Jr. officiating.
