Robert “Bob” Nofsinger


     KEYSER, WV – Robert “Bob” Nofsinger, 92, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 in Tarboro, NC due to Covid-19.  
     Born on August 13, 1928 in Piedmont, he was the oldest child of the late Roland M. and Veronica R. (Cosgrove) Nofsinger.  He was predeceased by an infant sister, Alma Marie Nofsinger and a brother, Michael “Mike” Nofsinger.
     Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict where he served his country for 10 years on the U.S.S. New Destroyer in the Mediterranean.  Always loving and thoughtful, he would shower his mother with fancy gifts from his adventures.  He then returned to his hometown, took a job with Westvaco and retired after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Kelly Mansfield American Legion Post 52.  A golf enthusiast, he could often be seen at Polish Pines or Fore Sisters Golf Courses.  
     Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife of 62 years, Joan A. (Morris) Nofsinger; his children, Deborah Vickery and husband James, John Arthur Nofsinger and wife Annie, all of NC and Mary K. Kerns and husband DeWayne of Keyser; his brother, Harold Dean Nofsinger of Keyser; his sisters, Anne Spriggs and husband Phil of Williamsport, MD, Mary Jo Torbet of Sun City West, AZ, Helen Holder of Keyser, Jean Burton and husband Harry of Keyser and M. Sue Smith and husband Glenn of Williamsport.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stuart Vickey and wife Becky, April Vickery, Jacob Nofsinger, Joseph Nofsinger, John Nofsinger and Zachary Kerns and wife Micayla; great-granddaughters Morgan Vickery and Abigail Vickery; a great-grandson Jensen Kerns due in January; sisters-in-law, Midge Nofsinger and Shirley Smith and several nieces and nephews.
     Markwood Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
For the protection of our surviving loved ones, a private Christian Graveside Committal Service with Deacon Harold Bradley will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Westernport, MD. 
     An announced Celebration of Life will be held when the time is safe.
