Robert Lee Heishman, Jr.
McCoole – Robert L. “Bob” Heishman, Jr., age 99 of Williamsport MD and formally of McCoole, MD, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born on October 6, 1924 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late R. Lee and Margaret R. (Mongold) Heishman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn E. (Sirk) Heishman on December 22, 1992; his sisters, Virginia Junkins and Betty Allen and his brothers, Paul and Ralph Heishman. Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Bob was a 1942 graduate of Keyser High School. After graduation, he enlisted and was a Chief Signalman in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served in the Philippine Islands on LST No. 680. After being honorably discharged, he attended trade school in machinist training. Bob retired as a supervisor of the General Design Department of Allegany Ballistics Laboratory of the former Hercules Incorporated. He was a member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church.
Bob is survived by two sons, Robert L. Heishman III and wife Pat of Knoxville, TN., and J. Kevin Heishman and wife Susan of Short Gap, WV. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Richard (Catherine) Heishman, Keith (Jeannie) Heishman, Curtis (Jinny) Heishman, Kelli Heishman and Nicole (Brandon) Nau and four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special sister-in-law, Edna Judy of Mount Storm, WV.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dad’s in-home caregiver for many years, Lisa McKinnis and to the staff of Twin Oaks Assisted Living and Williamsport Nursing Home during his residency there.

Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no viewing and a private memorial service will be conducted for family. Interment will follow at Potomac Memorial Gardens.
