Pauline May “Polly” Oates
Keyser, WV – Pauline May “Polly” Oates, 88 of Keyser, died on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Hampshire Center in Romney, WV.
Born on May 15, 1934 in Cabins, WV she was a daughter of the late Zola May (Self) and Fredrick Ray Smith, Sr. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Gochenour and Freeda Pence and her son-in-law, Charles H. Hartman.
Polly Graduated from Petersburg High School and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Gerald Jerome Oates; her two daughters, Judith a. Hartman of Lavale, MD and Julie L. Mann & husband John E. of Zelienople, PA; her brother, Fredrick Ray Smith, Jr. and her sisters, Mary Alice Whaley and Betty Mallow. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Abby J. Bennett and Tanis E Ridenour and husband Dustin and her great-grandsons, Connor Maxwell Bennett, Hampton James Ridenour and Asher Jude Ridenour. .

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 11:00am -1:00pm. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00pm with Reverend Beth Jacobson officiating. Inurnment will be held in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum.
