Paul C. Wiles , 98, of Burgess Hollow Road, New Creek, WV passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026 at WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born on April 20, 1928, on Lantz Ridge in Preston County, WV to the late William Harrison Wiles and Phoebe Ellen (Shannon) Wiles. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rose (Sypolt) Wiles, two brothers, Robert Wiles and wife Edna, John Wiles and wife Wanda Jean; five sisters Susan Denson and husband Bobby, Thelma Stemple and husband Fred, Wanda Bruno and Husband John, Rudell Sheehan, Betty Bello and husband Al, and a sister-in-law Judy Shackleford.
Paul received his machinist apprenticeship in Aliquippa, PA. He continued his career at Mount Storm Power Station and later retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory. He was a life member of the NRA, an avid outdoorsman and a true craftsman by heart. Paul was a shooting enthusiast and spent many hours at his reloading bench. His patience and precision were unmatched and he loved sharing his deep knowledge of the sport with others. The hunting and fishing stories that were made with his brothers, nephews, and grandsons will be cherished memories shared year after year.
Mr. Wiles was a Corporal in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict with the 59th MP Company. He will be deeply missed by all.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter; Paula “PK” Courtney & husband Michael of New Creek, WV, his grandchildren; Aaron and Heather, Colton and Mary Kate, Ellison and Kaitlin, his great grandchildren; Hadley, Memphis, Evan, Liem , Isabelle, and Hudson ( on the way). He is also survived by a brother-in-law Chuck Shackelford and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 11:00 am – 1:00 p.m . Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with his nephew, Deacon Chuck Saffle officiating. Interment will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. at the Red Rock Cemetery, Macomber, WV.
The family would like to thank the New Creek Fire Department and Valley Medical Transport for their quick response and care given to Paul. Also, to the wonderful staff in the ICU and Med Surg. Department at PVH that provided such kind and compassionate care to Paul during his hospital stay.
