Norma Jean “Jeane” Alt

     KEYSER, WV – Norma Jean “Jeane” Alt, 76, of Keyser, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Keyser Healthcare Center.

     Born on October 1, 1948, in Keyser, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. Cummings and Frances Emma (Davis) Selders. In addition to her parents and her stepfather, Lewis E. Selders she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Clarence Alt; a brother, Robert Dale Martin and her uncle, A. Ernie Davis.

     Jeane graduated from Potomac State College with an Associate of Arts Degree and was a Hairdresser by trade.  She was a former Secretary for Mineral County Administration Office and Court House. In her later years she was a Funeral Assistance for the Markwood Funeral Home. She was a faithful member of the Keyser Church of the Brethren, Keyser Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member and past Worthy Matron of the Alkire Chapter #11 Order of the Eastern Star.

     As cancer survivor Jeane was always in high spirits and friendly. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

     Left to cherish in her memory are her brother, Larry Stephen Martin of Keyser; sister, Eva S. McHenry and husband Lee Clem of Havre de Grace, MD; aunt, Ruby Alvaro of Keyser. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jeane Alt to the Keyser Church of the Brethren, 152 S. Main St. Keyser, WV 26726, Keyser Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 603 Keyser, WV 26726 and to the Mineral County Humane Society c/o Joy Fertig, 831 Cut Off Road Keyser, WV 26726

     Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 4:00 - 6:00pm. Funeral services held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the funeral home at 11:00am with speaker Jeff Davis officiating. Interment will follow services in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
