Nancy Jacqueline Kelley 

     KEYSER, WV - Nancy (Purdy) Kelley, 78, of Keyser, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in Woodbridge, VA.

     Born on July 2, 1946 in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Miles J. Purdy and Bette Lee (Tyler) Purdy.

     Nancy graduated from James Madison High School in Vienna, VA, Class of 1965 and attended Airline Stewardess School. She worked variety of jobs throughout her life such as the Iranian Embassy in DC, Giant Food, Toys R Us, and Mr. D’s. She was a founding historian of the Highlands of the Potomac Daughters of the American Revolution, a former president, Secretary, and cmte chair of the Limestone CEO’s, and a Mineral County Belle 2019.

     During her earlier years she was 2nd runner up in Miss Vienna Beauty contest and represented Vienna in the Miami Lions Club parade. She also was an avid ancestry researcher, award winning quilter and crafter, and a breast cancer survivor. Her all-time favorite movie was Gone with the Wind, and curated a massive collection of memorabilia associated to the book and film. 

     Among all her many outstanding achievements and accomplishments her family was her greatest. She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to travel with her sister and best friend, Bucky, but most of all she loved her hometown and was thrilled when she moved back here in 2015.

     Left to Cherish in her memory are her loving husband of 47 years Kelly J. Kelley; beloved children,  Ashley Marie Price and husband Michael, Patrick Miles Kelley and wife Anna and  Step-son, Jim Kelley and her  sister and best friend, Milene “Bucky” (Purdy) Kent and husband David. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ayden Kelley, MeKayla Johnson and Charleigh Lowe; numerous cousins and extended family members.

     Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 11:00am -1:00pm. D.A.R. will hold a memorial service during the visitation at 12:45pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00pm with Reverend Wayne Gosnell officiating. Interment will be held in Potomac memorial Gardens, Keyser.
