Mary Ann Shoemaker
Rawlings, MD - Mary Ann (Hanly) Shoemaker, 82, of Rawlings, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the Egle Nursing Home in Lonaconing, MD.
Born on August 23, 1941, in New York, NY, she was a daughter of the late William Wooden and Mary (Brenner) Hanly. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, William Wooden “Woody” Hanly. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary Ann attended the Colorado Women’s College and was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She treasured her children and grandchildren dearly.
She was a faithful member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and an active member in many organizations such as Girl Scouts, PTA, Warm the Children, and Make-A-Wish. During her free time she also volunteered at the local Nursing home. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is remembered with love by her husband, George “Cork” Shoemaker, her son, Scott Shoemaker and wife Julie; her daughter, Wendy Ann Shoemaker whom also passed away later Thursday evening; grandchildren, Tanner Shoemaker and partner Allison and Jake Shoemaker, great-grandchildren, Parker Lee and Cameron Shoemaker. She is also survived by her nephews, Chris Shoemaker and wife Tammy and their daughter, Alexa and Corey Shoemaker and wife Mandy and their sons, Ryan and Josh.

Shared visitation for Mary Ann and her daughter, Wendy will be held at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. A combined funeral service will be held at the Calvary United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 1:00pm with Pastor Beth Jacobson and Reverend Gary Wolfe officiating. Visitation held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow the funeral services in Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser.
