Mary Louise Green

     RAWLINGS, MD - Mary Louise Green, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on November 18, 2020.  She left us while sleeping peacefully at her home.  

     Born in Cross, WV on January 27, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ora (Bean) Paugh.    She will always be remembered for her feisty personality and the ability to make people laugh. Mary Louise lived a full and productive life as a wonderful wife, beloved mother, homemaker and teacher.

     She was blessed to able to travel.  She was so thankful to be able to visit the Holy Land and Germany. She served as a missionary many times to Mexico and Brazil.  She also enjoyed many family vacations and gatherings.  Mary Louise volunteered many hours as a Gray Lady at the former Keyser Hospital, as a Girl Scout Leader and as an active member of her church.  She was a lifelong member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church.  She retired from Head Start as a teacher.   

     Mary Louise was predeceased by her first husband, “Nip” Crites, Sr.; her sister, Emily and her two brothers, “Buck” Paugh and Robert Lee Paugh.

     She loved to quilt, embroidery, tend to her flowers and to read.  She enjoyed her Monday gathering with her quilting group at Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont.  She was also a member of the Red Hatters group.  Most of all, Mary Louise loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well.

     Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Paul Green, who took such good care of her and her children will be forever grateful to him.  She is also survived by her children, Vicki Hardman and husband Dave, Rhonda Larson and husband George, Reverend "Nip" Crites Jr. and wife Jean and Dennis Crites and wife Lindsey, Bettin Barnard, David Green and Joseph Green; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Josephine Paugh; several nieces and nephews.  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

     A Celebration of Mary Louise’ life will be held at the Markwood Funeral Home in Keyser  on Saturday, November 21, 2020.  Visitation will be from 11am-1pm and Funeral Services immediately following visitation at 1pm with Pastor Tim Bittinger officiating.  Interment will be held in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
