Mary Jean Carter
NEW CREEK, WV – Mary Jean Carter, 79, of New Creek, died on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born on December 6, 1942 in Vienna, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Alvin Carter, Sr. and June Eula (Sembower) Carter. She is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Richardson and brother, Thomas Carter.
Mary graduated from Wheaton High School and worked as a Cook for the Frankford Middle School. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her two daughters, June C. Bragg and Mary E. Racey; grandchildren, Michael Bragg and wife Ashley, Denver Claywell, II and wife Michaela, Kenneth Bragg and wife Carrie, Clinton Claywell and wife Kristy, Dustin Claywell and wife Tierra, Robert Bragg and fiancée Michelle, Laura Bragg and Deeannia McCloud; her brother, John Carter, Jr. and wife Donna and her three sisters, Carol Messick, Roberta Proffitt and husband Bill and Patricia Hoover and husband John. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Bradly, Destiny, Katie, Karter, Abigail, Maddox, Avery, Mason, Alec, Ronnie, Jake, Piper, Victoria, Paisleigh and Presleigh and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Friends will be received on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 30 S. Mineral St. Keyser from 2:00-4:00 pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 4:00pm with Reverend Lauren Godwin and Reverend Jerry Eisenhour officiating. Mask and Social Distancing are required to attend services.
