Marlene (Broome) Koontz
KEYSER, WV - Marlene (Broome) Koontz, 87, of Keyser, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at her residence.
Born on March 29, 1934 in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Carl Dean and Uris A. (Runion) Broome. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, James E. Koontz, Sr., on September 12, 2012; brothers, Howard Broome and Robert Broome and sisters Betty Bolyard, Wanda Cross, Lillian Bolyard and Sue Rogers.
Marlene graduated from Keyser High School and was an active member in the Grace United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her daughter, JimMara (Koontz) Evans, Keyser; her son, James Koontz, Jr., and wife Patsy, Keyser; four grandchildren: Matthew Duling and wife Jessica, Morgantown, WV; Rachel Rumer and husband Jeremy, Petersburg, WV; Christina Koontz, Keyser; and Tyler Evans, Scherr, WV; as well as five great-grandchildren: Isaac and Syndey Rumer, Elijah and Lex Duling, and Kenley Evans. She is also survived by her sister, Ethel Siebert, Urbanna, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser, from 10 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Grace Church with the Reverend Lauren A. Godwin officiating.
Due to the current health concerns, all guests are required to wear face masks and exercise social distancing at all time.
In accordance with Mrs. Koontz's wishes, the body will be cremated. Inurnment will be held in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 30 S. Mineral Street, Keyser, WV 26726.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
