Marian Virginia Mason

KEYSER, WV, Marian Virginia Mason, 77, passed away October 24, 2025 at the WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Born on October 21, 1948 in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Troxel H. Tasker and Eleanor (Biggs) Tasker. She was also preceded in death by her brother Charles H. Tasker, sister Rachel Lynn Burriss, nephews Scott Alan Tasker and Charles Harrison Tasker II, and niece Danette Jane Burriss.

Marian was a 1966 graduate of Keyser High School and a member of Cross Independent Church. She really enjoyed the Christmas season. Because of her love for the holidays, her ministry was reaching youth through Operation Christmas Child (OCC). She is responsible for packing hundreds of shoeboxes with the help of her children, grandchildren, and the youth at Cross Independent Church. These shoeboxes reach children around the world, spreading the gospel of Jesus. Marian also sponsored children from the local Angel Tree program every year. Her favorite pastime was playing games with her family.

 Left to cherish in her memory are her husband Kenneth L. Mason; her children: Daina M. Foster and husband Billy of Keyser, Diana L. Niland and husband Steve of Keyser, Erica K. Butts of Keyser, Kimberly E. Brandtonies of Mechanicsburg, PA, Jessica F. Durr and husband Eric of Keyser; brother: George Tasker and wife Eva; sisters: Harriet Troutman and husband John of Wellersburg, PA, Becky Rawlings of Keyser, Faye Shillingburg and husband William of Keyser, Kaye Moore and husband Norman of Keyser, Amy Mason and husband Russell of Hartmansville, WV; grandchildren: Hayley Craig and husband Thomas, Kyley Foster, Zac Lease and fiance’ Allie Sniecienski, Kent and Morgan Niland, Faith, Cortney, Brooke, and Lexy Butts, Tyler and Bailey Brandtonies, Mariah Durr and fiance’ Aaron Boggs, Paige and Blake Durr; great-grandchild: Harley Burns.

 Friends will be received at Markwood Funeral Home in Keyser Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Markwood Funeral Home with Pastor Randall Larry officiating. Interment will follow at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV and a bereavement dinner at the Elk Garden Assembly of God Church Fellowship Hall afterwards.
