Karen Woy Patterson
My mom was a very private person and told me she did not want an obituary, so I will try to honor her while still respecting her wishes.
On Monday, October 10, 2022, Karen Woy Patterson left this earth and went to a better place to be with her son Michael and many dearly loved family members.
She was born on May 3, 1948 in Keyser, WV and lived there for most of her life. She was a 14 year survivor of Pancreatic Cancer but never wished to be labeled as such. She said the word Cancer made her sad and she was well aware that beating that disease made her one of the very few lucky ones. She fought bravely, suffering in silence and never complaining or said “Why Me?”
She took great comfort in her Catholic faith. Over the years she served as Choir Director, Organist, Bible Study Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She loved animals, tending her garden and Christmas. She dearly loved decorating for the holidays.
She was a Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Friend who will be missed by those lives she touched. Rest in Peace Mom. I’m so glad your suffering has ended. I hope you are catching up with everyone you so dearly missed. I’m sure you have a lot to talk about.
This is my favorite picture of you - and just how I want to remember you.
In respecting my Mom’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. I want to thank the staff at UPMC for helping my Mom over the past 6 weeks while she battled the complications of her liver.
Love, Jennifer
