Jonathan Cook Obituary

Jonathan William Cook, 55, of Augusta, West Virginia, formerly of Keyser passed away on July 1, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1970, in Keyser. Jonathan lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his country.

A graduate of Keyser High School Class of 1988, Jonathan went on to serve his nation with honor as a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer; following his military service. He pursued a career in construction, where his hard work and commitment were evident to all who worked alongside him.

Jonathan was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kathy J. Thorn Cook for 35 years and a cherished father and grandfather. He is survived by his father, John Peyton Cook; his sister, Melessia A. Cook of Cumberland; and his children: Chris (Lejla) Cessare of Colorado; Mia (Ricky) Cessare Marr of Florida; Teresa (James) Tilley of Texas. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren:, Autum Cessare Marr, Jacob Cessare Marr, Courtney Cessare Marr, Logan Cessare Marr, Julia Cessare Marr of Florida and Brock Cessare of Colorado , James Tilley Jr., Johnathan Tilley, Jayse Tilley, Cheyenne Tilley, Chloe Tilley all of Texas; and Camryn Hayes of Augusta.

Jonathan was predeceased by his beloved mother, Frances M. Thompson Cook, Maternal grandparents, Elemer and Nola Thompson and paternal grandparents William and Ruth Cook. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who valued family above all else—a father and grandfather whose love left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.

An announced Celebration of Life with military honors will be Wednesday, July 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Danville Community Baptist Church 18800 Middle ridge Rd. SW Rawlings, MD 21557. In lieu of flowers donations are asked to be made to Jonathan's family would be appreciated
