John Michael “Mike” Kuykendall, Jr.

 KEYSER, WV – John Michael “Mike” Kuykendall, Jr., 63, of 436 North Main Street, Keyser, died on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Piney Valley Nursing Home, Keyser.

     Born Saturday, May 15, 1954 in Cumberland, MD, he was the second of three children born to the late Elizabeth Anne (Cook) Kuykendall and John Michael Kuykendall, Sr.

     Mike graduated from Fort Ashby High School, Fort Ashby, WV in 1972 and attended Potomac State College, Keyser. He also graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy and was a state police officer for 5 years, primarily stationed in Elkins, WV. For many years Mike was involved in the operation of the Kuykendall Bicentennial Farm at Reeses Mill, WV. He especially enjoyed raising crops and working on farm equipment. In later years he was an avid reader.

     Surviving are his sister, Carole Anne Junkins and husband William of Keyser; brother, William R. ”Bill”  Kuykendall of Reeses Mill; and his nephew, William Frank Junkins; and his long-time Companion, Patricia L. “Maggie” Popp. He is also survived by the extended Kuykendall Family.

     Friends will be received at Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. following the Visitation  with the Reverend Dr. Robert Edmunds officiating. Interment will follow Services in Johnson-Greenwell Cemetery, Reeses Mill, WV.
