JoAnn (Teets) Whetzel
KEYSER, WV - JoAnn (Teets) Whetzel, 79, of Keyser, died on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born on March 11, 1945 in Bloomington, MD, she was the daughter of the late Josie Franklin and Emma Elsie (Lantz) Teets. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan G. Ritchie, brothers, Harold Teets and infant brother, Alfred Teets and her sisters, Irene Parker, Ellen Winkler, Alma Chittum and Lillian Yvonne Lechliter.
JoAnn graduated from Bruce High School, Class of 1963 and was retired Machine Operator for Automated Packing. She was a member of the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly and the Keyser Church of God. She taught Sunday school for over 30 years at the Piedmont Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Dyer C. Whetzel; stepchildren, Pamela J. Sanders and husband Michael of Keyser, Karla B. Bateson and husband Bill of Westernport and Steve Whetzel and wife Kimberly “Kim” of Keyser; her brother, John Teets and wife Debbie of Richlands, VA; step grandchildren, Angela Smith, Lauren Roots, Ryan Bateson, Ian Tysinger, Corey Whetzel and Kacee Foutz and special nieces, Alleda Taylor, Heather Ray and special nephew, JJ Crosco. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 6:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 1:00pm with Reverend Larry Idleman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment in Potomac Memorial Gardens.
