     KEYSER, W.Va. - G. William "Bill" Dayton, 85, a resident of Heartland and formerly of Rt. 4, Keyser, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the nursing home.

     Born January 2, 1923 in McCoole, MD, he was a son of the late Leonard V. and Elsie C. (Robinson) Dayton.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Connie Dayton on June 1, 2001; two brothers, Delbert H. Dayton, Sr. and Frederick E. Dayton; a sister Mary Virginia Berg and two brothers-in-law, Bernard Straub and Kermit Berg.

     Mr. Dayton was a graduate of Bruce High School and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.  Bill formerly owned and operated the Dayton Body Shop in McCoole and was an auto body shop instructor at Mineral County VOTEC.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class, Queen’s Point VFW Post 6775, a 52-year member of Hiram Lodge #103 AF&AM, Ali Ghan Shrine Club and Upper Potomac Shrine Club of Wheeling.

      Surviving are his nieces, Elizabeth "Libby" Ferrebee of Keyser, Lois A. Dobbs and husband Kurt of Baltimore, MD and Darlene O. Lane of Oregon, Ohio; his nephews, Delbert H. Dayton, Jr., M.D. and wife Marjorie of Bethesda, MD; Fred Dayton, Jr. and wife Dottie of Walkersville, MD, David E. Dayton and wife Beverly of Oregon, Ohio, Duane D. Dayton of Oregon, Ohio and Dennis Berg of Baltimore, MD.  He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Helen E. Dayton of Keyser, Dorothy I. Dayton of Oregon, Ohio and Dorothy Dutko of Salem, Ohio.

     Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Vickie K. Minnich officiating,

     Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.  Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.

     If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children Hospital, C/O Upper Potomac Shrine Club, David Haines, P.O. Box 193, Keyser, WV 26726.

     Hiram Lodge #103, AF&AM will hold a Masonic Memorial Service Tuesday at 7 p.m.
