Gerald Keith “Jerry” Butler, Sr.
KEYSER, WV - Gerald Keith “Jerry” Butler, Sr., 87, of Keyser, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at his residence.
Born on February 26, 1935 in Piedmont, WV, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Marguerite (Welch) Butler. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Marie (Mayhew) Butler; his son, Gerald Keith Butler, Jr.; a brother, Richard K. “Dick” Butler and his sister, Barbara Allamong.
Jerry graduated from Keyser High School, Class of 1953, was a United State Air Forces Veteran and retired from Westvaco as a Storeroom Attendant. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and of Lodge # 662 Loyal Order of Moose.
Jerry loved to watch all kinds of sports, especially WVU football and basketball and the PGA. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies on Thursday’s with the Senior League and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Butler; three sisters, Diane Lease and husband Ronnie, Margo Savage and husband Dennis and Peggy Leatherman and husband EA and his special friend and companion, Catherine Rice.
Mr. Butler’s wishes were that his remains be donated to The Human Gift Registry of West Virginia University. A private committal and inurnment was held in Potomac Memorial Gardens.
