Gary Lee Stickley
KEYSER, WV – Gary Lee Stickley, 70, of Keyser, departed this life at home after a brief illness on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Born on April 12, 1951 in Keyser, he was a son of the late Mary Evelyn (Stafford) Stickley Baisor and William F. “Bud” Stickley, Jr. He is also preceded in death by an infant brother; his stepfather, William K. Baisor; and stepmother, Betty R. Stickley.
Gary graduated from Keyser High School, Class of 1969, Potomac State College-Engineering, Mineral County Vocational Technical Center-drafting, and Art Institute of Pittsburgh-commercial arts. He worked as an Engineering Technician for thirty-seven years in construction inspection and/or materials testing in transportation and facilities, which included direct employment with government agencies in WV, PA, and MD. He retired in 2017 as District Five Laboratory Coordinator from WV Department of Transportation, Division of Highways. Beginning in 1975, he worked part-time with his stepfather at Automatic Sharp Shop and in 1998 assumed ownership of the business.
He was an active member of the Evening Kiwanis Club of Keyser since 1977, serving one term as club vice-president, five terms as president, and seven terms as club secretary. He also was elected for eight terms as Lieutenant Governor Division Five of the State Kiwanis Club and then Governor. He served multiple times as the chairperson of club fundraising and service, including Team Captain for Mineral County Relay for Life and Chairperson for the Salvation Army Kettle. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Mineral County Historical Society. He devoted many hours to Keyser schools: Builders Club at Middle, K-Kids Club at Primary, and Key Club at High.
Gary’s hobbies and interests were in model railroading, woodworking, DIY projects, reading, drawing, bird feeding, history, technology, oldies/rock music/concerts, and some antiques collectables.
Surviving are his half-brothers, Michael W. Stickley and wife Penny and David W. Stickley and wife Tammy; a special cousin, Becky Wilkins; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and committal will be held at Potomac Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 6:00pm with the Reverend Beth Jacobson officiating.
