Frederick Porter Emmart I

Frederick Porter Emmart I, born on October 17, 1955, in West Virginia, passed away on July 4, 2026, in Fairmont, West Virginia. He was 71 years old.

He attended Keyser High School, and graduated with the Class of 1974. Frederick proudly served his country in the United States Army for seven years. After completing basic training at Fort Dix, he specialized in transportation, driving trucks and managing logistics. His service took him to Germany and included assignments at Fort Monroe and Fort Eustis in Virginia. Following his military career, Frederick pursued vocational training in electrical and woodworking skills, which became valuable assets throughout his life.

Frederick’s professional journey began with his first job at Potomac Farms Dairy while still in school—a role he cherished deeply. Later, he embarked on a long-distance hauling career that spanned many years. Additionally, Frederick dedicated himself to public service as the Captain of the New Creek Fire Department, where he drove the station’s ladder truck and earned recognition for responding to the most calls during his tenure.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frederick Porter and Annie (Sayers) Wiseman; his mother Helen Wiseman Emmart; and his stepfather Robert Emmart.

Frederick leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his brother John Wiseman and wife Roxie; nephews John and Andrew Wiseman; niece Julie Healy; children Jammie Smith, Frederick Porter Emmart II and his wife Angel Hamilton Delauder, Amanda Elliot, and Willie Emmart; as well as grandchildren Malachi Eastman, Christopher Elliott and Levi Delauder.

Funeral services will be at Markwood Funeral Home on July 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends 11:00 a.m. to service time with Pastor Roger Leatherman officiating and interment will follow at the Shilo Cemetery, Westernport with Military Honors provided by US Army Honor Guard and Boyce Houser American Legion. A repass will follow at the Keyser Moose Lodge # 662.
