Franklin D. “Frank” Fortner
Keyser, WV – Franklin Delano “Frank” Fortner, 89, of Keyser, passed away on Sunday October 30, 2022 at his residence.
Born on August 18, 1933 in Raven, VA, he was the son of the late Charles H. Fortner, Sr. and Vicey (Elkins) Fortner. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Lee) Fortner; brothers, Charles Fortner, Jr. and Estel Fortner and sisters, Maude Boera and Elizabeth Lewis. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Frank was educated in Richland, VA and came to Keyser in 1951 with Cofer Construction Company. He liked the area so much that he remained. In 1954 he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served for four years. After his military years, he worked at Keyser TV Company, Emerson-Pryne Company and retired from Mead Westvaco in 1993. He was a member of the America Legion Boyce-Houser Post # 41.
He was a community supporter, who enjoyed giving his time and effort. He knew no strangers and had he met a “new face”, a friendship was made. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his daughter, Amanda M. Rader; grandson, Ryin D. Rader and wife Shana and his three great-grandchildren, Ian, Alivia and Emilia.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 4:00pm -7:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 3:00pm with Reverend Lauren A. Godwin officiating. Entombment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Military Honors being accorded by the United States Marine National Honor Guard.
The family would like to express the deep and sincere appreciation for all the women and men that cared for Frank and allowed him the ability to pass away in peace in his home.
