Frances V. Thomas
Keyser, WV - Known as Peachy to her siblings and Beball to her granddaughters and many others, Frances Virginia Thomas of Keyser, West Virginia, peacefully passed away at the home of her daughter on November 5, 2024.
Frances was born in Upper Tract, West Virginia on November 16, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Ervin Monroe and Cora Bell (Mongold) Hartman.
She was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she attended the Harry Reese Sunday School Class and the 2024 summer Bible School. She was the oldest living member of the church, an honor she was very proud of.
Frances was a 1943 graduate of Bruce High School. In her younger years, she worked at the Sugar Bowl, where she met Al, with whom she was married to for 41 years. She was a dedicated employee for The Cumberland Times News-Keyser Office for many years, and she loved all her paper boys.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Al Thomas; her brother, Robert Hartman and her great-grandson, Harry Smith. She was also preceded in death by two beloved nephews, Wayne Waid and Richard Waid. She is dearly missed, and is now with her grand-furbaby, Abby.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughter, Brenda Sidley of Keyser; two granddaughters, April Lynn Sidley of Keyser and Lisa Louise Sidley of LaVale, MD and one great-grandson, David Oates. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Ann Waid and companion Paul Oliver and two nephews, Gary Waid and Robert Waid. She leaves behind another beloved grand-furbaby, Sammi.
Frances enjoyed traveling cross country with Brenda and Barbara Ann, not to mention she loved to play bingo and the slot machines. She was active her entire life traveling to the beach or visiting a new city every year, bowling and having fun at wineries. Frances was a ball of fire and a lot of fun. Up until the very end, she was witty. She had the best sense of humor, and always knew how to bring a smile.

Friends will be received on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1:00pm with Reverend Lauren A. Godwin officiating. Interment will follow the services in Potomac Memorial Gardens.
