Emma Marie (Bennett) Courtney

     Emma Marie (Bennett) Courtney, 82, of Keyser, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday June 26, 2025 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

     Born on December 20, 1942 in Franklin, MD, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Hazel (Gaither) Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Steven Courtney, three brothers, Billy Bennett, Irving Bennett Jr, and Ronald Bennett and one sister, Shirley Baker.

     Emma was a 1960 graduate of Bruce High School. She was a loving wife of 64 years to her soul mate, Doug. As a homemaker, she devoted her life to caring for her family. She was an avid bingo player, as well as running and operating Hi Rock Bingo with her husband, Doug, for over 50 years. She was a Christian by faith. She was known for her delicious cooking and baking. Her beautiful smile and generous heart will be remembered by all. If you knew her she has probably fed you. A more loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, or great-great grandmother you will not find. She was an amazing woman who was loved by all.

     Surviving in addition to her husband, Douglas Courtney, is one daughter, Pamela Everett of Keyser and one son, Michael Courtney and wife Paula of New Creek. She was a loving grandmother to two granddaughters, Cynthia Stickley and husband Chris of Keyser and Alissa Courtney of Keyser and five grandsons, Daran Everett and wife Heather of Belvieu, TX, Aaron Courtney and wife Heather of Keyser, Brian Everett and girlfriend Carly of Frostburg, Colton Courtney and fiancé Mary Kate of New Creek, and Ellison Courtney and girlfriend Kaitlin of New Creek. She was the loving great grandmother to sixteen, Gracie Stickley, Jordan Stickley, Taylar Everett, Hadley Courtney, Akira Shaw, Memphis Courtney, Elaina Everett, Evan Courtney, Leanna Everett, Cali Heavner, Ethan Everett, Auburn Everett, Liem Courtney, Camden Everett, Isabelle Courtney, and Rayli Everett. She was the loving great great grandmother to Elsie Hollingsworth.

     Friends and family will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home in Keyser on Monday June 30, 2025 from 1 to 3 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will follow at 8 pm in the funeral home with the Reverend Randy Crowe officiating.
