Edward “Shawn” Dean
KEYSER, WV - Edward “Shawn” Dean, 58, of Keyser, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at his residence.
Born February 1, 1963, in Cumberland, MD, Shawn was the son of the late Archie Diamond and Beth Frances (Mustoe) Dean. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his long-time companion, Heather Cross.
Shawn was a 1981 graduate of Keyser High School and was formerly employed as a Master Electrician with the Queen City 307 Union and a bartender at the Keyser, VFW.
He is survived by his brother, Mark Perry and wife Kathy of Keyser and sisters, Kathy Modlin and husband Steve of Keyser and Kitty Sue Hunt of Lewisburg, WV; four nephews, Nathan Modlin, Isaac Modlin, Morgan Perry and Patrick Hunt; his aunts, Carol (Mustoe) Martin, Connie (Whitmore) Kesecker and Lillian Barber; his uncle, Sam Mustoe; special cousin, Laura Holland and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his special friend and caregiver, Lorraine Mishow.
Shawn was an avid lover of the outdoors and loved spending his free time in the woods or on the river. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted Mountaineer fan and could often been seen wearing jerseys of his Minnesota Vikings Team. He brought joy and laughter to his many friends of all ages, both old and new and was a founding member of his high school gang called the “Pinheads”. Shawn enjoyed listening to music, playing Spades with his Mustoe family, and could always be counted on for bringing a delicious meal to Thanksgiving dinner. Shawn will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the Markwood Funeral Home located on 111 S. Mineral Street, Keyser from 3:00 – 4:30 PM, with a friendly tribute from family and friends from 4:30 - 5:00 PM. A Celebration of Life dinner will follow services at the VFW Nancy Hanks Post #3518, Keyser.
Due to the current health concerns, all guests are required to wear face masks and exercise social distancing at all time.
