Dorothy Jean (Ours) Cole

     Keyser, WV – Dorothy Jean Cole, 77, of Keyser, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at UPMC Western Maryland.

     Born on September 1, 1943 in Hyndman, PA, she was a daughter of the late Issac Edward and Minnie Catherine (Nelson) Ours. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd William Detrick, Sr.; her daughter, Lois Jean Kahl and a sister, Shirley Richardson.

     Dorothy graduated from Northern High School and attended Garrett County Community College. She was a Custodian at Trinity United Methodist Church  and a former Healthcare giver for the Sycamore Run Direct Health Care and Allegany county health department. She was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

     Surviving are her children, Floyd William “Billy” Detrick, Jr. and wife Carolyn Dianne Foster of Keyser and Judy Ann Fazenbaker and husband Roy, Sr. of Friendsville, MD; her son-in-law, Jack Kahl of Friendsville; her brother, Luther I. Ours and wife Mary Lou of Manassas, VA; four sisters, Eva McKenzie and husband Larry of Deerpark, MD, Nancy Wakefield and husband Sam of Friendsville, Doris Bittinger and husband Marshall of McHenry, MD and Darlene Murphy and companion Frank of LaVale, MD. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Roy Fazenbaker, Jr. and wife Becky of Friendsville and Amanda Sweitzer and husband Michael of McHenry and her great-grandchildren, Austin Fazenbaker, Destanie Fazenbaker, Morgan Sweitzer and Alyssa Sweitzer.

     Friends will be received on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 231 Newton St., Keyser from 11:00am – 1:00pm with funeral service immediately following at 1:00pm with the Reverend Randy Leatherman and Donna Leatherman officiating. Private interment will be held in Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville.

     Due to the current health concerns, all guests are required to wear face masks and exercise social distancing at all time.

     Arrangements have been entrusted in the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
