Donald Clifford “Big Daddy Don” Hartman
KEYSER, WV- Donald Clifford “Big Daddy Don” Hartman, of Keyser, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland.
Born on May 16, 1931 in Junction, WV, he was the son of the late Guy R. and Margaret (Corbin) Hartman. He is also preceded in death by his five brothers, Frank, Harry, Ralph, Richard and John Hartman; two sisters, Dorothy Swanson and Louise Davis and a son-in-law, Angeles Deleon.
Don was a retired United States Army E-7 Sergeant First Class after 27 years of service. During his time in the Army he fought in both the Korean War and Vietnam War (2 Tours) as an Infantry Soldier, on the Rifle Team and in the Sniper Division. After retirement he worked 7 years for DOD in Korea and then for USO at Clark Air Base in the Philippines for 18 years. After 25 years aboard serving his country he returned home and enjoyed seeing his brothers and sisters again. He loved spending time with his family and grandson whom he adored. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife Editha Hartman; son, John Hartman (E-6 U.S. Air Force); daughters, Janela Hartman, Jenie Deleon and Emilita Delfin; sister, Sally Wingate and two sons-in-law, Brandon Suter and Noel Delfin. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Jandon Suter, Don Deleon, Carl Delfin, Donald “DHE” Deleon, Den Delfin, Aedith Deleon and Carlos Delfin.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 11:00am-1:00pm Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00pm with father Thomas Sebastian officiating. Interment will be held in Elijah High Cemetery with Full Military Honors being accorded by the United States National Honor Guard.
