Donald Paul Heare
KEYSER, WV – Donald Paul Heare, 96, of Keyser, died on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born on September 9, 1926, in Keyser, he was a son of the late Anstie W. and Verna M. (Kesner) Heare. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Cain) Heare and a brother, Joseph H. Heare.
Mr. Heare was a graduate of Keyser High School Class of 1944, WV Barber School, and a U.S. WWII and Korean War Navy Veteran. He was a former employee of Celanese Fiber, self-employed barber, and in 1972 became owner of Potomac Memorial Gardens. Don was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, chancel choir, and Boyce Houser Post #41American Legion, a former Keyser City Councilman and charter member of Keyser Kiwanis.
Surviving are his children, Donald L. Heare and wife Debra of Fort Ashby; Stephen K. Heare and wife Sherri of Keyser; Karen L. Campbell and husband John of Keyser; his special companion, Shirley A. Beckman; a sister, Rena M. Loick of NC; his 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm with a Boyce Houser Post #41 Veteran Memorial service at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be conducted in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 76 N. Davis Street, Keyser, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 11:00 am with the Reverend Sally L. Bartling officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.
Entombment will follow in Potomac Memorial Garden Mausoleum, Keyser with Military Honors accorded by the United States Navy National Honor Guard.
