Diana Lynn Wimer
Keyser, WV - Diana Lynn Wimer, 69, of Keyser passed peacefully away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, October 10, 2025. Born on February 10, 1956, at Keyser, WV, she was the daughter of the late Willis R. Shumaker, Sr., and Claris (Grapes) Shumaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles Neff and Ada (Ward) Wimer, and an infant grandchild, Isaiah Neff Wimer.
Diana graduated from Keyser High School in 1974 and attended Fairmont State University where she received a B.A. in business education in 1978. For 29 years, she was a business education and computer applications teacher at Keyser High School. Her former students and work colleagues fondly remember her for her resiliency, patience, and encouragement. Upon retirement, she became a member of the Retired Teacher Association. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Alpha Delta Kappa, and the Keyser Presbyterian Church Women’s Circle. She loved the beach and visiting with relatives. She endured her health challenges with a smile, having MS since her teens. Her healthiest years were during her pregnancies with her three children. She was also a twelve year survivor of breast cancer. She always lamented that her brain worked so much better than her body and the many things she wanted to do.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles F. Wimer and their children, Crystal Lynn Wimer of Morgantown, WV, Garrett Logan Wimer of Keyser, WV, and Rion N. Wimer and wife Mary Ann of Keyser, WV. Also left to cherish in her memory are her grandchildren Savannah Jane, Clayton Philip, and Bennett Aaron Wimer; her brothers, Willis Robert “Bob” Shumaker, Jr., and wife Diane of Westernport, MD, Gene Shumaker and wife Sandra of Stephens City, VA, Donald Shumaker and wife Cindy of Westernport, MD; and two surviving aunts, Dottie Grapes of Cabins, WV and Juanita Shoemaker of Junction, WV as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Markwood Funeral Home in Keyser, WV from 1:00 – 3:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 20, at Keyser Presbyterian Church with Pastor Lucas Taylor and Jerry Eisenhour officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Queens Point Cemetery, Keyser, WV. Memorial contributions made be made in honor of Diana Lynn Wimer to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 300, Chamberlain, SD 57325-9918.
