David C. Harman
KEYSER, WV - David C. Harman, 74, of Keyser, passed on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his residence.
Born on November 12, 1948 in Keyser, he was a son of the late Herman C. and Jean B. (Bishoff) Harman.
David graduated from Keyser High School, Class of 1966 and attended Potomac State College. He served as the Mineral County Magistrate Court Judge for 36 years and formerly a Licensed operator for the City of Keyser Waste Water Treatment Plant and Manager for the Keyser office of Times and Alleghanian Company.
He was an active member of the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department for more than 50 years and served as Chief for many years. As a member of the West Virginia State Fireman’s Association he served as president for 2 years and Parliamentarian for 20 years and was the original member of the committee for the Fireman’s Memorial. He also was a member and past president for the Keyser Kiwanis Club and a member of West Virginia 4-H All Stars. As one of the Apple Alley Players’ he portrayed General Crook in the production of “McNeill’s Rangers”. He was a faithful member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Harry Reese Sunday School Class. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife Sara (Baker) Harman; brother, Dr. Steven H. Harman and wife Jean Y. of Eckhart, MD; sisters-in-law, Norma “Susie” Newbraugh and Lisa Baker; nephews, Dr. Benjamin Harman, Matthew Harman, Jeffrey Fazzalore and Lynn Newbraugh; nieces, Dr. Rebecca J. Shiltz and Jessica Fazzalore, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 2:00-400pm and 6:00-8:00pm with a Fireman’s memorial service starting at 6:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 1:00pm with the Reverend Lauren A. Godwin officiating. Interment will be held in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
