Darrell E. Gillaspie

     MT. STORM, W.VA – Darrell E. Gillaspie, 65, of Mt. Storm, went to be with the Lord on  Friday, December 5, 2008 at Veterans Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV.

     Born October 11, 1943 in Keyser, he was a son of Emily J. (Paugh) Gillaspie of Mt. Storm and the late Burlin W. Gillaspie.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter Bernadette Farris.

     Mr. Gillaspie was a retired contract worker and a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran.  He was a 1961 graduate of Bayard High School and a member of Mt. Storm United Methodist Church and VFW Post 6735 in Mt. Storm.

     Surviving in addition to his mother Emily Gillaspie, are his wife Marie (Ochs) Gillaspie of Petersburg, a son Darrell E. Gillaspie, Jr. of Fla; two stepsons, Shawn Jenkins of Petersburg and Eric Jenkins of Fla; three brothers, Kenneth Gillaspie and wife Helen of Baltimore, MD, Harold Gillaspie of Mt. Storm and Glenville Gillaspie and wife Dorothy of Mt. Storm and a sister, Norma Sullivan and husband Raymond of Shipman, VA.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

     Friends will be received at the Mt. Storm United Methodist Church on Monday, December 8, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the church following the visitation at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Mary Radford officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Storm Cemetery, Mt. Storm, WVa.
