Charles E. “Pap Charlie” Shobe
NEW CREEK, WV – Charles E. “ Pap Charlie” Shobe, 73, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home peacefully with his family by his side.
Born on August 7, 1948 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Lee and Juanita (Jones) Shobe.
Charles was a Vietnam U.S. Army Veteran. He had been a loader-operator for Kessel Lumber for 35 years and a member of Sunnyside Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Carla (Blizzard) Shobe; his two sons, Mark S. Lower and wife Anita of New Creek and Kenny W. Lower of Annapolis, MD; his brother, Haven Shobe and wife Joyce of New Creek and his two sisters, Margie Wentz and husband Gary and Barbara “Bobbi” Shaver and husband Joe, both of Buckhannon, WV. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ariel Shugars and husband Josh, James Kirk and fiancée Heather Miller, Matthew Kirk and wife Megan and Alex Lower; his three great-grandchildren, Noah Kirk, Skylar Jackson and McKenzie Kirk and special nieces and nephews, Matthew Shobe, Cyrus Wentz, Kori Kesner, Stacie Wentz and Jeanie Johnson.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Sonny Dodds officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery, Antioch, WV.
