Charles “Chuck” Knight
KEYSER, WV - Retired Chief Petty Officer USN, Charles “Chuck” Knight, 84, of Keyser, has shipped out for the last time. He passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Stonerise of Keyser Nursing Home from complications of kidney disease.
Born on January 22, 1938 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Skinner and Bernice (Burke) Knight.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy (Rice) Knight of Keyser and a daughter, Jennifer Knight of Newark, DE.
Charles graduated from Keyser High School and earned an Associates of Arts Degree from Potomac State College. He served 24 years in the Military, 2 years in the United States Air Force and the remaining years in the United States Navy. He was a Cryptologic Technician at The Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon and the National Mapping and Imaging Agency in Washington, DC, as well as other duty stations overseas from Rota, Spain to Adak, Alaska. He loved the Navy and being able to travel all over the world with his family.
Chuck was an avid reader and an enthusiastic bowler. His dry sense of humor will be greatly missed, but first and foremost, his devotion to his family will never be forgotten. He was greatly loved.
A Remembrance gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00pm.
