Charles H. “Charlie” Hartman
Charles H. “Charlie” Hartman, 67, of Cumberland, MD formerly of Keyser, died on September 16, 2022 at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland.
Born on December 23, 1954, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Hubert S. “Dusty”, Jr. and the late Vivian R. (Saville) Hartman of Stony Run Road in Keyser. He was a 1973 graduate of Keyser High School, a 1976 graduate of Potomac State College and a 1978 graduate of West Virginia University. He attended Post-graduate classes at Frostburg State University and the University of Georgia at Athens, GA. He retired as a Wood Supply Director with 35 years of service from Luke Mill (Verso Co) in which he held various positions in management.
Charlie was a United Methodist by faith and had served in various civic organizations in the area. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Judith A. (Oates) Hartman, whom he married on July 29, 1978; two daughters, Abby J. Bennett and companion Jake Truax and his son, Oaklyn and Tanis E. Ridenour and husband Dustin; his grandchildren, Connor Bennett, Hampton Ridenour and Asher Ridenour and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Gerald J. and Pauline M. “Polly” Oates and his sister-in-law, Julie L. Mann and husband John.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser from 11:00am – 2:00pm. A Celebration of Charlie’s life will follow the visitation at 2:00pm with Reverend Randy Leatherman and Reverend Donna Leatherman officiating. Inurnment will be held in Potomac Memorial Gardens Columbarium.
Arrangements have been entrusted in the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made in honor of Charlie to the Schwab Family Cancer Center, 12500 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland, MD 21502 or the Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 40, Keyser, WV 26726.
The family would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Blanche Mavromatis and the Staff at Schwab Family Cancer Center and the Staff at UPMC Western Maryland in Cumberland; Dr. Michelle Kennedy for their care and treatment of Charlie’s conditions.
