UPDATE:  A Chapel service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at  1:00 pm at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, WV where Military Honors will be accord by the United States Army Honor Guard. 

Charles Kenneth Smith, Sr.

     Elk Garden, WV – Charles Kenneth Smith, Sr., 95, of Elk Garden, died on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Piney Valley Nursing Home.

     Born on December 20, 1924 in Morgantown, WV, he is the son of the late Guy Allen and Edith Pearl (Sollars) Smith. He is also preceded in death by his wife Madeline M. (DelSignore) Smith.

     Charles retired after 42 years from Westvaco as a Roll Wrapper and was a United States Army WWII Veteran.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Emoryville, WV, VFW Post #10077 in Deer Park, MD, American Legion Post #155 in Westernport, MD, Knights of Pythias 131 Blue Ridge Lodge in Ranson, WV and Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Mineral Ioof Lodge 103 of Elk Garden.

     Surviving are his children, Charlene Junkins of Keyser, WV; Linda Coffman and husband Mickey of Winchester, VA; Charles K. Smith, Jr. of Keyser, and Michael J. Smith of Elk garden.

     Friends will be received on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 3:00 – 5:00pm. A Chapel service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at  1:00 pm at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton, WV where Military Honors will be accord by the United States Army Honor Guard.                     

     Due to the current health concerns, all guests are required to wear face masks and exercise social distancing at all time.
